▪ Birmingham Botanical Gardens. It is an indoor piece of nature, a lovely green space, located at 2612 Lane Park Road. Visitors will find here 67 acres of beautiful gardens, the center piece being the magnificent Japanese Garden, arranged in a Zen setting and containing a teahouse. The admission is free of charge and the gardens can be admired by the public from sunrise to sunset.
▪ Birmingham Zoo. It is a family attraction that can be reached at 2630 Cahaba Road. The zoo has an amazing collection of 700 animals gathered in original, authentic surroundings. There are miniature train tours available and gift shops containing beautiful souvenirs. The zoo is open every day from 9 am to 5 pm and the admission is free for children under the age of 2.
▪ VisionLand Theme Park. The attraction is composed of two theme parks: Magic Adventure Theme Park and Splash Beach Water Park. One of the thrilling components of the park is Crimson Tide, often the first choice of many youngsters. There are summer activities available for all ages as well as numerous water slide rides. VisionLand Theme Park is open during summer, from Monday to Saturday between 10 am and 6 pm, and on Sundays from 12 noon to 6 pm.
